About

One mind, a 10-year perspective.

Coherence: Decay is built by a single developer with a clear goal: use everything the best games of the last four decades have invented, and make it into an epic, story-driven adventure. The focus: characters.

Game philosophy

I designed Coherence: Decay as a long-term project, run by myself only, following in the spirit of Starsector, Terraria and Dwarf Fortress — with the endless extension possibility of a Path of Exile. The goal is to build a game-engine layer that can both be extended horizontally and deepened vertically: by adding more complex interactions, more dialogue and content, and by improving it with different visualization engines over time.

The game may start with a few guns and biomes but a complete core game flow, then receive better and better engine work — from SVG to Canvas and possibly into a high-end 3D render engine. This process may take years — and that is fine. More importantly, there is no time or publisher pressure, and no one to stop me from doing it. I will just keep going.

Buy early at a discount, keep playing forever. The game is growing, and always playable and fun.

How we use AI

The 32 operators — their stories, voices, and dialogue — are written entirely by the developer, without AI. Read the full AI Development Policy.
